Special Olympics - Nationals, Wyke 26

Another exciting (and very wet!) weekend at Wyke for the Special Olympics Nationals 🌧️🏅

The Mossley team entered 6 riders, each with different levels of experience, but all showing incredible determination, resilience and team spirit. It was Jamie’s first Nationals and what a pleasure to have him on the team. He took it all in his stride and came away with a decent medal haul.

Despite challenging conditions, passable on Saturday and rainy on Sunday, the team delivered amazing results:

Jason
• 3k TT – 5th place
• 5k TT – Bronze
• 3k RR – Bronze

Milena
• 5k RR – Silver
• 5k TT – Silver
• 10k TT – Bronze

James

  • 10k RR - Gold

  • 5k TT - Silver and

  • 10k TT - 5th place.

Jamie
• Gold, Silver and Bronze across the weekend 🥇🥈🥉

Daniel and Andrew also achieved fantastic results, all bringing home medals, an incredible team effort.

Wyke is no easy track, with a long uphill start and tight corners at the bottom end, but the energy, determination and support carried everyone through. The mood stayed high throughout, and the team did us all proud.

A huge thank you to the support crew, parents and coaches, June (Head Coach), Sharon, Phil and Ann. These events simply wouldn’t happen without your dedication and passion.

Now, I think some well-earned early nights are in order!
